Why we included this project

For a team already building against the OpenAI API, this project is a hosted switchboard: the request format, auth header, and SDK stay the same, and only the base URL and API key change. A single endpoint accepts OpenAI-style calls and routes them to OpenAI, Anthropic Claude, Google Gemini, xAI, and Chinese providers such as DeepSeek and Baidu, so Python code, LangChain, or a plain HTTP client can point at it with a config tweak. It also exposes the wider OpenAI surface, including batch jobs, the assistants API, fine-tuning, embeddings, Whisper transcription, and TTS. The part that stands out is billing: no OpenAI account, no foreign credit card, top-ups via WeChat, which removes the usual payment hurdles for teams outside the US. That is the main draw for anyone who wants one familiar interface to several model families without running their own gateway.
