Why we included this project

OmniRoute sits in front of a large number of LLM providers and exposes them through one OpenAI-compatible endpoint, so tools like Claude Code, Cursor, or Cline can reach hundreds of models without you wiring up a dozen SDKs. The part that makes it practical day to day is quota-aware auto-fallback: when a provider is down or out of free credits, requests move to another backend and your workflow keeps running. It also stacks RTK and Caveman compression to cut token use, and the live free-tier dashboard shows what the documented free tiers actually add up to, with shared provider pools counted once instead of inflated. It's MIT-licensed and self-hostable, which makes it an easy fit for a team that wants one place to manage LLM access and keep costs down.
