Why we included this project

Chat2API is a desktop app for people who already pay for web chat subscriptions and would rather not pay per-token API fees on top. It reuses the login you already have with providers like DeepSeek, GLM, Kimi, MiniMax, Qwen, and Z.ai, and exposes a local OpenAI-compatible endpoint that any SDK or client can point at. The app handles the fiddly parts that usually sink this approach, like model name mapping with wildcards and sliding-window context management, and it adds function calling via prompt engineering so tools like Cline, Roo-Code, and Cherry Studio work without extra configuration. A dashboard shows request traffic, token usage, and success rates, and you can issue API keys and route requests across multiple accounts. If you hold web subscriptions to several of these models, it is a practical way to consolidate them behind one local gateway.
