Why we included this project

ryOS is a full web-based desktop environment that recreates the look and feel of classic Mac OS and Windows in the browser, with an AI assistant layered on top. It has a window manager, a virtual file system with backup and restore, and roughly two dozen built-in apps, so it feels like a real desktop rather than a single-purpose tool. The assistant, Ryo, is wired into the system: it can control the apps, take terminal-style commands, generate content like retro websites and TV channels, and chat in public or private rooms with tool calling. Because it ships as a self-contained Bun server, Docker images, and an Electron shell, you can self-host it behind your own infrastructure or run it as a desktop app. It is best read as a working demonstration of an agent-driven desktop interface, not a backend service to embed in an existing product.
