Why we included this project

Meridian addresses a specific mismatch: you pay for a Claude Max subscription but would rather work in OpenCode or Aider than in Claude Code itself. It is a local proxy that sits between your editor or terminal agent and Anthropic's official Claude Agent SDK, translating requests into the standard Anthropic and OpenAI protocols. Because every request flows through the SDK's documented query() function, session management, streaming, and prompt caching stay under Anthropic's control instead of relying on token extraction or binary patches. One subscription can then cover several coding tools without juggling separate API keys. The project is also a clean worked example of building an interoperability layer over a documented SDK without resorting to reverse engineering.
