Why we included this project

OpenRelay is a local proxy that gathers the AI quotas you already have scattered across subscriptions and free tiers and makes them usable from any tool. It scans your machine for existing sources like Claude Desktop, VS Code Copilot, Cursor, or the Gemini CLI, and it can also talk to direct APIs such as Groq, Cerebras, Ollama, or OpenRouter, then exposes everything through one endpoint. Point a tool that speaks the Anthropic or OpenAI API at it, and a Claude Pro subscription can drive Aider or Goose while a spent Cursor allowance falls back to another provider instead of bringing work to a halt. That automatic failover between model groups is what keeps things moving day to day, and it spares developers the repetitive per-tool API setup that usually eats the value of free tiers. Solo developers and small teams juggling several AI tools at once will get the most out of it.
