Why we included this project

Proma is a desktop workbench that keeps your AI work local. It combines multi-model chat, general-purpose agent runs, per-project workspaces, Skills, MCP servers, and remote bot bridges into a single client, so your chat history and reusable pieces accumulate in one place instead of scattering across browser tabs. The split between Chat and Agent modes is the practical part: quick questions stay cheap, while longer, permission-gated tasks with file access get handled by the agent runtime. You bring your own API keys, which avoids locking you into one vendor, and sessions, workspaces, and configuration are stored as plain JSON/JSONL files under ~/.proma. That makes it a useful daily tool for anyone who wants a persistent, self-hosted agent setup they actually control.
