Why we included this project

Ever lose track of where you saw something on your screen? OpenRecall quietly captures screenshots of your display throughout the day, runs local OCR over them, and builds a searchable index so you can find that fact or snippet later by typing natural-language keywords instead of hunting through browser history. All of that data stays on your own machine, with no cloud upload and no account required, which matters for people who work with sensitive material or simply don't want a vendor's service watching their activity. It also runs on Windows, macOS, and Linux, so it works across the machines most teams already use. If you are weighing a local-first alternative to the commercial 'rewind your screen' products, this is a project worth looking at.
