Why we included this project

5ire is a desktop AI assistant built for people who work with more than one LLM provider. It puts OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, DeepSeek, and local Ollama models behind a single chat window, so you can compare answers and switch models without juggling separate apps. It also works as a full MCP client, so you can hook up Model Context Protocol servers and give the assistant access to files, databases, or system tools. A local knowledge base built on bge-m3 embeddings lets you drop in PDFs, DOCX, or CSV files and query them with retrieval-augmented generation without sending anything off your machine. Usage analytics track API spend per conversation, and a searchable prompt library with variables makes it easier to reuse and standardize instructions.
