Why we included this project

SimplexityAI is a community-built Electron wrapper around Perplexity's web service, aimed at people who live in an AI-search tab and would rather have that workflow in a native app. It keeps the usual browser conveniences, like window-state and session memory, and adds desktop touches a tab can't offer: minimize to the system tray, auto-start on boot, and global hotkeys that let you highlight text anywhere and start a search without switching apps. The quick-search and customizable prefix shortcuts are the real draw if you repeatedly ask the same kinds of questions. It's an unofficial project, so the search itself still runs on Perplexity's servers and you'll need an account there, but the shell is open source and builds from source on Windows, macOS, or Linux. For a small team that wants a lightweight, self-contained launcher for members who lean on AI search, it's a straightforward thing to try.
