Why we included this project

Codex Proxy is a local relay that lets you point other coding tools at a Codex Desktop subscription. It translates the Codex Responses API into OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and Ollama-compatible endpoints, so clients like Cursor or Claude Code can use your Codex account without their own API keys. The project also handles the awkward parts of running that kind of bridge: rotating between multiple accounts with plan-aware routing, refreshing tokens automatically, keeping proxy pools healthy, and matching the desktop client's TLS fingerprint to stay compatible with upstream. A web dashboard brings account management, usage stats, and API key handling into one place. If you already pay for ChatGPT and want that capacity available across your preferred editors, this is a practical self-hosted alternative to buying separate API keys.
