Why we included this project

hoop is a layer 7 gateway that sits between your team and the databases, Kubernetes clusters, and APIs they work with, whether the user is an engineer, an AI agent, or an MCP client. It operates at the wire-protocol level, which lets it mask PII in responses using ML-based classification rather than regex, block destructive statements like DROP TABLE or rm -rf before they execute, and send risky writes through a Slack or Teams approval flow. Sessions are recorded and replayable, so audit and incident review don't require guesswork. The agent-in-the-loop feature scores one-off operations before they run, a real concern if you let Claude Code, Cursor, or other autonomous agents touch production systems. Deployment is a single gateway with no agents on endpoints and no schema discovery, which suits teams that want centralized control without per-host tooling.
