Why we included this project

Teams building WhatsApp bots or customer-service flows usually discover that wiring message send and receive into the rest of their stack eats more time than the bot itself. Evolution API removes that plumbing by exposing a REST interface over WhatsApp, with support for both the free Baileys-based web channel and Meta's official Cloud API, so you can pick the route that fits your volume and budget. Beyond the connection, it relays events to WebSockets, RabbitMQ, Kafka, SQS, or NATS and can store media in S3/MinIO, which makes it straightforward to drop into an existing event-driven backend. The built-in integrations with Typebot, Dify, Chatwoot, n8n, and OpenAI matter for teams that would rather have a ready-made bridge than write custom adapters for each tool. It is a self-hosted messaging gateway rather than a complete chatbot, so expect to pair it with the conversation logic or support platform that handles the actual dialogue.
