Why we included this project

If you use the Codex App or CLI but want to pick from models outside OpenAI's native lineup, this router gets you there without juggling separate tools. It runs as one local background service that speaks the Responses API and merges external providers such as Anthropic, Kimi, DeepSeek, and xAI into Codex's normal model picker, so routed models sit right next to the built-in GPT options. The same installation also publishes those models into DeepSeek Harness as a single provider route, which helps if you work across both clients. Credentials are entered through a guided setup with hidden terminal prompts rather than pasted into chat, and the project includes a doctor check plus rollback for safe migration from older versions. Teams that want one router for multiple coding assistants get a shared gateway and a single credential set.
