Why we included this project

Petdex is the kind of project that adds a bit of life to a coding session without getting in the way. It is a public gallery of pixel-art companion pets that work with Codex, Claude Code, OpenCode, and Gemini CLI. One command installs a pet, and the desktop app then floats it over your workspace, where it animates whenever your agent makes a tool call. Pets are submitted and reviewed by the community and browsable on the web, so you can find something you like without digging through config files. If you spend your days watching an agent grind through tasks, a small mascot that reacts to every tool call is a surprisingly pleasant addition, and the macOS, Linux, and Windows app handles picking a pet and connecting agents without ever opening a terminal.
