Why we included this project

Fusio is a self-hosted API gateway and backend platform written in PHP. It can expose legacy SQL/NoSQL databases as REST APIs, route and orchestrate traffic between microservices, or run custom backend actions you write in PHP or JavaScript, and it handles the surrounding infrastructure a team would otherwise have to build: a self-service developer portal, automatic client SDK generation, subscription plans with quotas and billing, and real-time usage analytics. For AI work, native Model Context Protocol support means the endpoints you give human developers can also be offered as tools for autonomous agents, and the platform will generate actions and schemas from natural language prompts. If you run services and want a single controlled layer that serves both classic API consumers and agent tooling without standing up the portal and billing stack yourself, this is a solid self-hosted option.
