Why we included this project

OxideTerm bundles SSH, Telnet, serial, SFTP, RDP/VNC, port forwarding, and lightweight file editing into a single native desktop app, so developers and sysadmins no longer have to juggle separate clients for each job. Its AI assistant, OxideSens, watches the live session and can run approved actions on your behalf, but only through your own provider key from OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or an Ollama endpoint, which keeps the tool free of platform subscriptions. The client is built on a pure-Rust SSH implementation and GPUI rendering, deliberately avoiding Electron and bundled browser runtimes for a lighter, more privacy-conscious footprint. There is also a Grace Period reconnect for flaky networks and a command sender for scheduled, repeatable multi-target input, handy when you manage several servers at once.
