Why we included this project

Codex-X is a cross-platform desktop front end for OpenAI Codex aimed at people who use the CLI or desktop app and are tired of hand-editing config files. It brings prompt templates, custom Markdown prompts, third-party API providers, session history, and Skills/MCP settings into one visual interface, so you can toggle a prompt on or off, switch providers, or inspect the live config.toml in a few clicks. It ships with five built-in prompt templates, accepts your own Markdown prompts, and can import existing providers from cc-switch. Session history is searchable and organized by project path, which helps when you work across several projects. If you run multiple providers or keep several prompt sets, this keeps that state visible instead of scattered across text files.
