Why we included this project

CodexPlusPlus is an external launcher and manager for the OpenAI Codex and ChatGPT desktop apps. It works alongside the official app instead of patching it, using the Chromium DevTools Protocol and a local helper service to switch API providers, convert protocols, manage sessions, and tweak the interface without touching the app's internal files. The bundled manager tool is where you configure providers and models, import settings from tools like cc-switch, scan and export local sessions, and turn on enhancements such as faster startup, conversation width restore, and locale fixes. If your team runs Codex on several machines or needs to route between official and third-party endpoints, the provider and model management is the part you'll use most. It's a desktop utility, not a library, so you install it as an app and drive it through its own interface.
