Why we included this project
Anyone juggling several AI coding CLIs knows the pain of figuring out what each one actually costs. TokenTracker installs lightweight hooks into tools like Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, and Gemini CLI, then rolls the token usage and spend into a local dashboard that runs entirely on your machine, no cloud account or API keys required. It also never reads your prompts, which matters if you are feeding proprietary code through these tools. The extras, a desktop pet, native widgets, and achievement tracks, make the data something you actually look at rather than a spreadsheet you avoid. The CLI runs on macOS, Linux, and Windows, with native menu-bar and system-tray apps if you want a desktop companion.
