Why we included this project

Android's system assistant normally routes to a single hardcoded app, and swapping which chatbot or voice assistant gets triggered means hunting through settings every time. SwitchAI replaces that friction with a lightweight launcher that remembers several AI assistants, lets you pick one on the fly, and can set a default for the whole device. It also passes through voice input for assistants that support hands-free commands, and adds home screen widgets plus Quick Settings tiles so your chosen assistant is one tap away. Anyone who juggles multiple assistants across different tasks, say Gemini for quick searches and ChatGPT for long-form chats, will find this genuinely useful. Because it's a compact open-source Kotlin app covering 40+ assistant apps, it's also an approachable reference for developers curious about how system assistant intents and launcher integration work on Android.
