Why we included this project

Ubicloud is a working open source control plane. Point it at bare metal servers rented from providers like Hetzner, Leaseweb, or AWS, and it gives you elastic compute, virtualized block storage, firewalling, load balancing, managed Postgres, Kubernetes, and IAM. It also ships an AI inference service, so the same self-hosted stack can serve both ordinary applications and LLM workloads. If you already lease raw hardware for cost, portability, or compliance reasons, you can attach the control plane to those machines and get a private cloud with a web console instead of assembling everything by hand. You can run it yourself against provider machines or use the managed platform, which keeps the provider's pricing and location choices, a practical fit for cost-sensitive startups and for anyone who wants the control plane code to stay auditable.
