Why we included this project

Appwrite bundles the backend pieces most apps need, including auth, databases, storage, functions, messaging, and realtime data, into one service you can run on your own hardware or consume as a managed cloud. Small teams and solo developers get a working server side without standing up several separate services, and the Docker-based one-click setup plus REST, GraphQL, and framework SDKs keep the starting cost low. The same codebase runs either way, so moving between self-hosted and cloud is mostly a matter of changing where you point it. The recent MCP integration and agent tooling also let AI coding assistants reach project data and docs directly, which matters for teams layering AI features on top of the same user data and sessions.
