Why we included this project
Targe files move between browsers over WebRTC here, so nothing has to sit on a cloud server and burn upload bandwidth or hit a size cap. The same web interface also streams video, shares a screen, broadcasts live, and carries text, and it runs on your own machine. That self-hosting angle is the main draw for privacy-minded teams: traffic goes peer to peer rather than through a third party, and the README notes LAN transfers over 70 MB/s. An optional admin panel adds usage statistics, which helps when several people share one install. It's a plain, practical utility rather than an AI service.
