Why we included this project
LosslessCut is a desktop GUI for FFmpeg that handles the one job most video editors dread: cutting a large file without re-encoding the whole thing. Trim a drone or GoPro clip and it copies only the parts you keep straight to the output, so a multi-gigabyte file shrinks fast and the quality stays exactly as recorded. The same direct-copy approach covers rearranging segments, merging clips with matching codec settings, extracting tracks, remuxing containers, exporting frames, and jumping to scene or silence cuts. A CLI and HTTP API expose the same operations for scripting, and the per-project segment list makes repeatable cuts easy to manage. Anyone who moves footage between cameras, devices, and formats will find it a genuinely useful tool rather than another slow render pipeline.
