Why we included this project

When you run more than one AI coding assistant, the same MCP server setup usually ends up duplicated in each client's config file, and keeping those copies in sync gets old fast. MCPM avoids that by installing each server once into a single global configuration and wiring it into whichever client you open on a given day, be it Claude Desktop, Cursor, Windsurf, or a VS Code extension. From the command line you get a searchable community registry, install and update commands, named profiles you can tag by workflow, and the option to share a server with others for remote access. For a developer or small team juggling several assistants, that means maintaining one tool instead of one config per editor, with the whole tool layer staying consistent wherever you work.
