Why we included this project

Anyone who has run two coding agents on the same codebase knows the frustration of each one starting fresh and redoing work the other already did. Atlas is a local-first layer that gives your agents a shared on-device memory. Whether you run Claude Code, Codex, or Atlas's own built-in agent, a decision made in one session shows up in the next agent's prompt. It records every session with a real commit graph and file-level diffs, so you can see what actually landed and search past sessions, notes, and checkpoints from one place. That shared context is what makes Atlas useful for teams running several agents at once, and for solo developers who switch tools mid-project. Everything stays on your machine by default, with optional team sync when you want it.
