Why we included this project
MediaGo is for people who save video from the web regularly and are tired of juggling command-line downloaders. Point it at a page and it sniffs out the underlying streams, handling m3u8/HLS sources and mainstream platforms like Bilibili and YouTube, with yt-dlp backing for a thousand-plus sites. It ships as a desktop app with a bundled Chrome/Edge extension that detects video on any page and sends it to the app in one click, and the same core runs as a one-line Docker service so you can host the web UI on a server and reach it from any device on your network. The Go-based core exposes an HTTP API, which makes it scriptable for teams automating batch downloads, and built-in format conversion saves you a separate ffmpeg step. If you would rather work in a GUI than remember terminal flags, this one tool covers both desktop and self-hosted setups.
