Why we included this project

Waku is a native desktop app that sits in front of the coding-agent CLIs you already run. Instead of keeping separate terminal windows open for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, or OpenCode, you get one window for sessions, transcripts, tool activity, and checkpoints. It's built in Rust with Zed's GPUI framework, and projects, sessions, and transcripts stay on your machine with no account or remote service involved. A background daemon owns the SQLite task store and all Git and filesystem operations while the desktop app acts as a thin RPC client. If you work across several agent CLIs, the shared interface lets you switch models, reasoning effort, and access modes, and queue follow-up messages while an agent is still working.
