Why we included this project

Claude Code and Codex users who hop between multiple API providers often end up editing config files by hand. Code Switch replaces that with a desktop app that runs a local HTTP proxy on port 18100, points both CLIs at that fixed address, and routes each request to whichever provider you've enabled, falling back automatically if one fails. You can set priority levels so cheaper or more reliable vendors get tried first, and per-request usage tracking shows what each one actually costs. It also manages MCP servers for both tools and can pull down and install Claude Skills from built-in or custom repositories. For teams juggling regional, cost-tiered, or backup providers, this is a straightforward way to keep coding assistants running without manual reconfiguration.
