Why we included this project

HermesOffice treats the document itself as the workspace, so the AI edits the file directly instead of sitting in a chat panel beside it. The suite runs locally on macOS and Windows, and the Hermes Agent proposes changes you can preview, accept, or roll back before anything is applied. Its byte-preserving round-trip is the detail that matters most: only the blocks you or the agent touch get regenerated, so layout in Word, Excel, or PowerPoint survives saving intact. That makes it a practical fit for teams handling material that cannot leave the machine, and for anyone tired of AI tools that mangle formatting. It is still early-stage software, so expect to build installers yourself, but the auditable edit pipeline is a strong sign of where the project is headed.
