Why we included this project

Developers who have standardized on Codex Desktop but keep wanting a different coding agent in the same window will find CodexHost useful. Rather than rebuilding the chat shell, it layers agent selection and session controls onto the official app through CDP and an Electron inspector, so Pi, Claude Code, Oh My Pi, Grok Build, and DeepSeek Harness each run as their own thread inside Codex. The host does not redraw each agent's interface; streaming output, approvals, and permission modes come straight from the agent itself. You can also ask the current agent to hand an independent task to another harness and track the native session that spawns, and remote SSH nodes let you run harnesses on machines that aren't your local one. If Codex's UI is the part you like and the underlying model is what you want to keep flexible, this is a practical way to get both.
