Why we included this project

Olares is for people who want to run AI agents and large language models on hardware they own, rather than renting compute and handing their data to a third-party cloud. It is a Kubernetes-based personal cloud OS you install on your own machines and manage from any browser with plain-language commands, which makes it a natural fit for homelab enthusiasts and small teams seeking a self-hosted alternative to managed services. Local model serving is the headline use case, but the same platform doubles as a data vault, media server, and general app host, so the initial setup pays off well beyond AI. Expect to get comfortable with Kubernetes first; in exchange you keep control of both your data and the agents you run against it.
