Why we included this project

SearChat is a conversational search engine you can host yourself, with a familiar chat interface on top. Rather than flipping between a chat app and a search tab, you ask a question and the assistant pulls fresh results from engines like SearXNG before answering with those sources in hand. It plugs into OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, and VertexAI models, and keeps multi-turn history in the browser so follow-ups stay in context. The Deep Research mode is the most interesting part: when a single answer is not enough, it runs a longer, multi-step investigation of the topic. Teams that want a working, self-hosted alternative to mainstream search-chat products without building the whole stack from scratch get a coherent, runnable base here.
