Why we included this project

If you own a Xiaomi AI speaker and have wanted it to do more than its stock voice, this project turns the hardware into a hands-free front end for models like ChatGPT, Gemini, Qwen, and Llama3, plus several other providers. It hooks into the speaker's wake word and audio pipeline, so a spoken question gets sent to the model of your choice and the reply comes back through text-to-speech. Setup means grabbing a device ID from your Xiaomi account and supplying an API key; you can also swap in different TTS voices or switch to a continuous-conversation mode. It's a practical weekend project for tinkerers who want voice-controlled LLM interaction at home without rooting the device, and the code doubles as a useful reference for building custom skills on Xiaomi's smart-speaker protocol.
