Why we included this project

Raycast runs as a keyboard-driven launcher on macOS, which makes it a natural home for a chat client: this extension drops GPT-4, Claude, Llama, Gemini, and a stack of open models into the command palette, all free. It ships with a large set of built-in providers from the gpt4free ecosystem, so you can start chatting immediately, and it also accepts any OpenAI-compatible endpoint, meaning local setups such as Ollama work too. The feature set goes well beyond Q&A: 18 commands, streaming output, saved chat history, web search, file uploads for vision-capable models, image generation, and custom prompt commands you can assemble yourself. The catch is that many built-in providers are unofficial and can change status, so the extension is most dependable when you point it at your own API key or a service you control. It is not on the Raycast store yet, so you install it from source, which is straightforward if you are comfortable with Node.js.
