Why we included this project

FlyCut Caption is a subtitle editor whose speech recognition runs locally: Whisper in the browser version, FunASR in the desktop Tauri build. Because it produces word-level timestamps, you can fix a single misheard word without regenerating the whole track, which is the kind of thing that makes subtitle work tolerable. The editor also handles the usual time sinks, with primary and secondary subtitle tracks for bilingual output, AI translation between languages, and a smart blank-cut that finds silent gaps and lets you preview the tightened result before you commit. Export covers SRT and JSON subtitles plus hard-burned dual captions, so the captions stay visible on any platform or player. And since the whole thing is a React component, teams building their own video tools can drop the pipeline into a larger app rather than wiring it up from scratch.
