Why we included this project

OpenUI turns a rough idea into a working interface without the usual back-and-forth of hand-coding. You type what you want in plain language, and it renders a live preview you can keep tweaking by asking for changes until the layout feels right. The generated HTML can be exported to React, Svelte, or Web Components, so the result moves into your existing codebase instead of staying a throwaway mockup. It runs against OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, or local models through Ollama and LiteLLM, which means you can use it fully offline if you prefer. That makes it a useful self-hosted option for frontend developers and small teams who want a faster prototyping loop without depending on a closed service.
