Why we included this project

Most analytics tools force a trade-off: you get detailed traffic data, but you also get cookie banners, tracking scripts, and your visitors' data shipped to a third party. Umami is a privacy-first platform you can host on your own server, and a small script collects page views, sessions, referrers, campaigns, and conversions without cookies. The dashboards cover charts, cohort analysis, and user-journey views, so you can see where traffic comes from and what visitors actually do. Since it only needs Node.js and PostgreSQL, you keep full control of the data and can even publish shareable dashboards. It's a practical replacement for heavier suites when you want product and web analytics but need to stay GDPR-friendly.
