Why we included this project

Neo Chat is a self-hosted chat workspace built around a simple trade: you keep the data, it handles the plumbing. History, memories, search indexes, and files stay in the browser by default, while server routes act as controlled proxies for model providers, web search, RAG, and plugin execution. Beyond plain chat it layers in the extras that matter in daily use: parameterized skills, OpenAPI-style plugin tools, remote MCP servers with an optional local stdio bridge, knowledge-base RAG, web and local search, voice, and editable artifacts. The opt-in end-to-end encrypted sync over WebDAV or S3/MinIO is a good middle ground for people who want their conversations on several devices without handing them to a vendor. It also runs as an offline PWA and ships with Docker and Cloudflare Worker deployment paths.
