Why we included this project

SillyTavern is a locally installed frontend for chatting with language models, and it works with both local backends like KoboldAI and Oobabooga and hosted APIs such as OpenAI, Claude, and OpenRouter. The appeal is the level of control: you can fine-tune prompts, manage characters and personas, use WorldInfo lorebooks, and switch on a Visual Novel Mode that makes conversations feel more like a game. It also handles image generation and text-to-speech, so one session can mix chat, visuals, and voice. That makes it a strong fit for roleplay and creative writing, where you want to shape every detail of the exchange. The mobile-friendly layout and third-party extensions keep it practical for everyday use, not just a tech demo.
