SoulChat

Why we included this project

SoulChat is a Chinese-language model fine-tuned for mental-health dialogue, built on ChatGLM-6B. Its training mixes a large set of single-turn counseling instructions with multi-turn empathetic conversations, which is what lets it respond by listening and acknowledging feelings instead of jumping straight to advice. Teams building supportive or counseling-oriented assistants in Chinese can use the released weights and the SoulChatCorpus dataset as a starting point for their own fine-tuning. The repo also includes a Streamlit app and Python examples for single-turn and multi-turn chat, so getting a demo running is straightforward. The model is meant for research and non-commercial use, and the authors note that its output should not replace professional psychological diagnosis or treatment.
