Why we included this project

Rasa has been around long enough to become a reference point for teams building their own conversational assistants rather than renting one from a hosted service. It combines an intent-based NLU pipeline with a dialogue management layer, and the custom action server lets you plug in real business logic instead of being stuck with canned responses. Connectors for Slack, Facebook, and other channels are included, and the training-data format and model configuration are documented well enough to serve as a practical starting point for production work. The catch is that the project is in maintenance mode, with the vendor pushing new development toward its commercial CALM engine.
