Why we included this project

DataLine answers plain-English questions by converting them into SQL and running them against Postgres, MySQL, Snowflake, CSV, or Excel files, then displays the results as charts and tables you can copy straight into a report. Analysts who don't write SQL get answers fast, while backend developers can draft queries and explore a new schema without typing joins by hand. Everything runs on your own machine or in a container you control, and by default the tool keeps the underlying data away from the LLM, which is reassuring when the tables hold sensitive rows. It comes as a desktop app, a Homebrew tap, and a Docker image, so one person can be up in minutes and a small team can self-host with basic auth. If the same questions keep coming back about your data, this is a practical way to shorten that loop.
