Why we included this project
Cog brings terminal commands into chat by letting you run them from Slack, HipChat, or Mattermost. The Elixir-based server enforces per-command permissions, so you can delegate specific operational tasks to teammates without giving out broad shell access, while still keeping an audit trail. Commands are packaged as installable bundles, which makes it straightforward for a small platform team to share reusable operations across the whole organization. The project is a mature but older take on ChatOps, and while development has slowed, it's stable enough for teams that still rely on this kind of setup.
