Why we included this project

Open WebUI Desktop wraps the popular Open WebUI chat interface in a native app for macOS, Windows, and Linux, so teams already running an Open WebUI server no longer need to live in a browser tab. Point it at your existing server, or enable the bundled llama.cpp engine to run models entirely on local hardware with nothing leaving the machine. It adds a few touches that make daily use feel less like a web page: a global hotkey summons a floating chat bar over any other app, and push-to-talk transcribes your speech straight into the conversation. After the first launch, which needs internet, everything works offline, and updates arrive in the background. It is still early alpha, so expect rough edges, but anyone who standardizes on Open WebUI as their team's chat client will find it a far more comfortable daily driver than a browser tab.
