Why we included this project

AIaW is a chat client for Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and the web that works with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, DeepSeek, and other model providers, so you are not tied to a single vendor. It stores data locally first, which makes conversations load instantly and work offline; logging in adds cloud sync across devices. Beyond the usual chat UI there are separate workspaces with nested folders, an artifacts view that pulls pieces of a reply into a reusable window, and a plugin system with function calling and MCP support. One caveat: the project is deprecated in favor of a complete rewrite called Nya AI, so new users should probably evaluate that first. For teams already running AIaW, the codebase still works well as a self-hostable client.
