Why we included this project

Running Ollama or a similar local model runtime already gives you private inference, but the results usually live in a terminal window. Page Assist puts that model inside your browser: a sidebar that stays open as you move between pages, so you can ask questions about the article on screen, summarize a page, or get writing help without copying text anywhere. When you want a bigger canvas, there's also a full web UI for managing multiple conversations. The extension installs on Chromium-based browsers like Chrome, Brave, and Edge, plus Firefox, so it fits mixed teams rather than locking everyone into one browser. For anyone who wants model data to stay on their own machine, this removes most of the friction of using local models while browsing.
