Why we included this project

Obsidian users who want an LLM assistant without leaving their notes can add a chat panel to the sidebar with this plugin. It works with local models through Ollama or LM Studio, and with hosted APIs from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google Gemini, and Mistral, so you can choose based on privacy or budget. The bot can reference the note you are editing, generate text from a selection, and render replies as Obsidian Markdown, which helps with drafting and turning rough ideas into formatted notes. Profiles and presets give it a consistent personality or knowledge focus, and you can save and reload chat history as markdown files. That makes it a practical pick for writers, researchers, and note-takers who want AI help inside their vault.
