Why we included this project

Obsidian users who want an AI that can actually read their notes get a genuinely useful tool here. The plugin adds a chat panel inside the vault: ask questions, summarize a document, let a semantic search pull up the relevant note, or have the assistant draft and edit text without switching windows. Since it works with any OpenAI-compatible model and with local models, you are not locked to one provider, and if you run it against something on your own hardware, your notes never leave your machine. It also handles web and YouTube lookups, ingests PDFs and EPUBs, and has an optional agent mode that calls tools on its own. For anyone who treats Obsidian as a second brain, this turns a generic LLM into a research and drafting assistant that already knows what you have written.
